History

The Faculty of Dentistry was established pursuant to Decision No. 2015/8052, adopted by the Council of Ministers on August 20, 2015, in accordance with Article 30 (Additional Article) of Law No. 2809, dated March 28, 1983, upon the proposal submitted by the Ministry of National Education.

The building was used as the University Hospital at the Nizamiye Campus until the end of 2016. It was subsequently allocated to the Faculty of Dentistry, and its establishment was approved by the Council of Higher Education (CoHE) on March 31, 2021.

In 2022, renovation work began both inside and outside the building to transform it into the University's Oral and Dental Health Application and Research Hospital. The renovations were completed in early 2023, and the facility was made ready to serve as the Oral and Dental Health Application and Research Center of Giresun University Faculty of Dentistry.

Following the completion of the official procedures, an Operating Permit Certificate and a Temporary License Certificate were obtained from the Ministry of Health on June 9, 2023. Subsequently, a service procurement agreement was signed with the Social Security Institution (SSI), and the facility began accepting patients.
