Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is a major field of dentistry that focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of congenital or traumatic deformities, cystic or tumoral pathologies, and infectious diseases affecting both soft and hard tissues of the mouth, teeth, jaws, and facial structures. It also encompasses the management of dental and jaw fractures, the extraction or surgical exposure of erupted or impacted teeth, and corrective procedures performed to facilitate prosthetic rehabilitation. By adopting a comprehensive approach to the oral, dental, jaw, and facial structures, where many diseases initially develop and manifest their symptoms, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery plays an important role in public health in terms of functional, aesthetic, and psychological well-being.
The main areas of interest of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery are as follows:
Management of impacted tooth extraction procedures

In addition to applying interventional surgical techniques in accordance with the treatment protocols of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery discipline, our department aims to ensure that patients benefit optimally from outpatient and inpatient treatment services under local or general operating-room conditions, as appropriate. The department also strives to achieve international standards in education and training.
Patient Admission and Clinical Evaluation
At our clinic, patients are accepted following an initial examination and evaluation by the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology. Patients who require surgical intervention are then referred to the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Following this referral, a separate appointment is scheduled for the patient to be evaluated at the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic.
During this appointment, patients undergo a further assessment by the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery team to determine the nature of the proposed procedure and the need for surgical treatment. When the patient's general health and clinical condition are suitable, simple tooth extractions may be performed on the same day. However, separate appointments are scheduled for the extraction of impacted teeth, complicated tooth extractions, and other surgical procedures.
