Pedodontics

Pediatric Dentistry is a clinical branch of dentistry that provides preventive and therapeutic oral and dental healthcare services to infants, children, adolescents, young adults, and individuals requiring special care until the completion of permanent dentition.

At the Pediatric Dentistry Clinic, services include the development of nutritional and oral hygiene programs; preventive dentistry procedures, such as fissure sealant and fluoride applications; restorative and endodontic treatments for dental caries in primary and permanent teeth; and the provision of initial care and the determination of appropriate treatment protocols for traumatic injuries involving the oral and dental region in children.

The clinic also provides services for the diagnosis and treatment of oral diseases, the maintenance of gingival health, the prevention and treatment of periodontal diseases, and the restorative, endodontic, and prosthetic treatment of teeth with developmental anomalies. In addition, early treatment of malocclusion (preventive orthodontics), as well as the planning and application of habit-breaking appliances and space maintainers, falls within the scope of pediatric dentistry.

Furthermore, performing necessary dental treatments under general anesthesia or sedation for children with special healthcare needs and non-cooperative children who are unable to demonstrate adequate cooperation during dental procedures is one of the treatment modalities employed in pediatric dentistry.
